Hello Everyone,

This is Dann Bunting, and I have a simple request.

With just under a month and a half until my birthday (May 17th), I would like to ask that on that day we reserve a "Day of Peace". It is my only birthday wish.

I ask that on May 17, 2005, you make a pledge to be peaceful and kind to everyone you see that day. I ask that you pledge to do at least one kind thing for some one else. It can be as simple as wishing some one a good day, or as complex as you want.

I ask that you e-mail me at human_order@hotmail.com (human_order @ hotmail.com) with "I promise" in the subject line, to let me know that you will do this for me.

One last thing, I ask that you forward this e-mail to everyone you have an e-mail address for. This is not a chain letter and nothing bad will happen to you if you don't forward it. It's a simple request for one "Day of Peace".

Thank you for your time and assistance.

Much Love,

Dann

Since I already feel like shit...

Since I already feel like shit I figured I would tell you how I came to make the decision that ultimately made this group possible.

I spent a long time trying to hide the things that happened to me and to keep them inside. It was eating me up.

So I tried talking to people but they just didn't seem to understand, which lead me to looking for resources on-line, but I could not find what I was looking for. So, when livejournal started community journals, I decided to start this one. I never expected to number of member we have today. I just wanted to talk to people who had been through the same thing, and share ways to deal with it. I had been through a lot and even going to a therapist didn't seem to help.

I had been molested by my own father when I was 4 years old, when I would have to visit him (my parents were divorced). It happened each time, though I only really remember one vividly.

My mother had some abusive boyfriends, who really didn't want a kid hanging around.

I was a witness to my family being abusive to each other.

Then came my step-father and his family. He was an alcoholic and very very abusive. There were always fights and yelling and destroying things, always. With him came my step-brother who was the same age as me and who used me age his sexual experiment. He was bigger and tougher than me, and I couldn't do anything about it, plus at that time I didn't know any better.

Me and my step-dad get along really good now, but there is always the past.

When I was coming out, thing were not going we between me and my mother, although our relationship now is good, I guess I just learned to forgive them.

When I was 19 I was raped but some one I trusted as a friend, he was much older than me (in his 60's), and he waited till I was in a situation where I was totally drunk before he did what he did.

After that I lost complete faith in humanity.

Now anytime I see a story in the news or on TV, it brings it all back every time…

I wish I could just move on, but I can't and I don't know if I ever will.

So, that's what lead to the decision to start this group, and why I seem so messed up.

And if what my family did to me in the past wasn't enough, I also inherited schizophrenia and major mood disorders from them. I guess it's his way of messing me up from the grave.

The outcome of last nights election was surprising to say the least. I stayed up all night watching it on TV, switching from CNN to MSNBC and NBC. I sat there white knuckled hoping i was dreaming. But, I wasn't. George W. Bush was elected to a second term. This is not what i was hoping for. So what went wrong? How did this happen? There are a number of questionalbe things that happened yesterday.

1) The number of voting machines were lowered in areas where voter turn out was expected to be higher causing long lines, to force people not to vote. Those who had to go to work or school, could not stand in line. Lines lasting for up to 13 hours. How can we let this go unchecked? It is fact that polling places that had 5 or 6 machines in the last election, only had 3 this election.

2) Provisional ballots?

3) The voter registration paper was "too thin"?

The are many other things that made your vote not count, and these need to be addressed.
